7 June - Undergraduate researcher Spencer Hanggodo was selected as a UD Center for Food Systems and Sustainability (CENFOODS) summer intern. His research will examine how global food trade (and the water resources required to support it) has evolved over the past 30 years.
8 May - PhD student Kopo Oromeng was awarded the Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future graduate fellowship to support her research on the impacts of global land acquisitions on social-ecological systems.
24 March - Researchers publish a new study in Environmental Research Letters investigating the virtual water balance (i.e., water associated with the production of imported and exported agricultural products) of China. They find that more than one-third of China's virtual water imports for primary agricultural products are re-exported as processed products (e.g., cotton imported and textiles exported).
19 March - A University of Delaware research team led by Dr. Julie Klinger (Geography and Spatial Sciences) received a grant from the National Science Foundation to study the illicit production and trade of minerals that are critical for supporting sustainable energy technology.

10 August - Welcome to new PhD student Hanan Abou Ali! Hanan joins the lab after serving as an instructor in the Survey Engineering Department at the Lebanese International University.
22 June - Dr. Davis led an international team that studied the effects of large-scale land acquisitions on tropical forest loss. The study was published in the journal Nature Geoscience with a related News & Views and blog.
8 June - Undergraduate research Sam Becton selected as UD Summer Scholar. His summer research will focus on understanding whether forests overlying mineral deposits in Nigeria experience enhance rates of forest loss.
4 June - Welcome to new PhD student Kopo Oromeng! Kopo joins the lab after completing her MS in Geological Sciences at the University of Delaware.
19 May - Dr. Davis serves on expert panel for the IMAGES Initiative to discuss the implications of COVID-19 for circular economies and sustainability.
2 March - Dr. Davis is part of multi-institutional study linking irrigation for cattle feed, beef consumption, and fish imperilment in the United States.
17 January - PhD student Piyush Mehta and Dr. Davis were in New Delhi to attend the release event of the report 'Multifunctional Agriculture for Sustainable Development'
6 January - Welcome to MS student Tyler Sharretts! Tyler joins the lab after completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Geosciences from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

9 - 13 December - Dr. Davis convened a session entitled "Carbon, Water, and Society: Adapting to Changes on Multiple Scales" at the American Geophysical Union annual meeting in San Francisco.
21 November - Dr. Davis and coauthors published a paper on the nutritional, environmental, and climate resilience benefits of crop diversification in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
19 November - Dr. Davis will co-chair a session at the European Geophysical Union General Assembly 2020 titled "Solutions for sustainable agri-food systems under climate change and globalisation". Consider submitting your abstract here.
27 October - Dr. Giulia Vico and Dr. Davis published a chapter titled "Ecohydrology of Agroecosystems: Interactions Between Local and Global Processes" in the new book Dryland Ecohydrology.
20 October - Welcome to PhD student Dongyang Wei! Dongyang joins the lab after working as a Research Assistant at the University of Reading (UK).

9 - 13 September - Dr. Davis attended the Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock 2019 Multi-Stakeholder Partnership Meeting organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
5 September - Dr. Davis is one of 37 authors who contributed to the International Resource Panel's Think Piece on Land Restoration for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
